The majority of the community’s population lives within close proximity to major transportation corridors (I-70, Route 18) that provide convenient access to the Pittsburgh metropolitan area in 30 minutes. Township taxes are low and have not increased in ten years. Residents are provided with a variety of municipal services including fire, planning, code enforcement, and recreation. South Franklin Township is part of the McGuffey School District. The predominance of development in the Township is residential in nature with nearly 50% of all land use classified as agricultural in character. The Township is home to over 2,868 (Census 2020) residents and is 21.1 square miles in area. South Franklin Township is located in southern Washington County, Pennsylvania approximately 25 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.
